Nordic winter play

Today we played outside with the children, it was extremely cold but so beautiful with the sunshine!
And with the right cloths everyone can be outside, typical Swedish motto : )



This is how beautiful our yard is during winter time : )
What a great place for kids to play in!

Animal story

Monday morning and the children can be quite sad and tired so we decided to make the morning gathering more exciting and fun. I took out our drum and the children got to play on the drum and we sang songs together.
And then I read a story about "Ludde and the animals" on our Flano board. They loved to name the animals for me and to imitate the animal´s sounds : )



In my group, after the gathering, we talked about balloons, when you can get one and what they look like and the children showed real joy for balloons! They kept on shouting; Balloons, balloons! So cute! Next time I need to bring some real balloons for them to play with! : )
They then got to color balloons on a paper that we will put up on our wall.

Geometri fun

Today we held focus on maths geometric forms:
circle, rectangle, square and triangle.

We talked about what the forms look like and searched for the forms in other things, in the room. We found them in our carpet for example. After the gathering we divided the children into smaller groups where they got to build figures and other things from the geometric forms and my group got to paint circels and glue them on to a black paper.



This is how beautiful our wall got : )

Goldy singing

This is a fun way to get the children participating in the singing gathering:
I placed some of my song cards, upside down on the floor and put a goldy see through cloth over them, the cloth alone created a big excitement : )
Then each child got to pick a card under the cloth and we sang the song that the card showed. This was also a great opportunity to talk about what happens in the songs. In this way the children got to reflect over what the songs really mean and not only sing the words.

Walk in the sunshine

Today it finally stopped raining so we took a walk in the forest, it's so great to have this big forest near the kindergarten.



At the walk we found ice on the ground that the children played with. They discovered that the ice breaks when you jump on it, very exciting!


We also found this tree that someone had decorated so beautiful : )
